I recently stayed at Mambo Hill Resort and had a mixed experience. The room was aesthetically pleasing, cozy, and offered a beautiful view from the balcony — a lovely spot to unwind. However, the bathroom could definitely use some upgrades, and the pool wasn’t well maintained, which was a bit disappointing. On the positive side, the food was tasty and the complimentary breakfast was a nice start to the day. It’s worth noting that dinner service ends at 9:30 PM, which can be tricky if you’re returning late from exploring (especially since the resort is quite far from most tourist spots). Most of the staff were warm and helpful, but there were two who consistently said “no” with a smile to almost everything, which felt a bit off-putting when we needed assistance. Overall, it’s a decent stay if you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic retreat, but there’s room for improvement in maintenance and hospitality consistency.

Excellent Stay

This was an excellent holiday, great hospitality, extremely beautiful and restful, and the very best place to stay on the island, it certainly seemed so to us, set on the hillside amidst tropical plants with incredible views of the sea and surrounding . We were a family group of 7 with ages being 7, 12, 40s and 70s . The children and their parents stayed on 1st floor and view was awesome… kids enjoyed swimming pool .. surely recommended 👍🏼

Mambo Hill Resort Quaint location off the crowd & traffic that ensues. Has a brilliant view of the mountains in Bali mainland. Rooms are on two floors and they face the same direction. The lower floor has a seating deck with a swing, a pool lounger and a pool running on the backside of the room, whereas the upper floor has a balcony and a staircase leading to the same pool. All this without having to get out of the room from the main door.. You can just walk out of the room & get into the pool.. That's how easy it was Pros Awesome views. On the lower floor its the pool in the foreground with the mountains in the distance with a great contrast. The upper floors will have a better view of the mountains but yeah the pool might be missing in the view if you look out from your bed. A very well thought out & maintained pool. The pool is clean, well maintained with cute transparent floats with confetti fillers. The fact that its so easy to access makes it even better Brilliant staff. Polite, courteous and eager to help out with directions or just fine tuning your itinerary to make the best of your time. We had a great stay made better by the people in the hotel Fairly decent breakfast - had read horror stories about how the breakfast was inadequate and did not have enough options for a lot of hotels in Nusa Penida. This was much better than that.. You can choose not to eat Fried Rice / noodles for breakfast and have some overnight oats instead or just have toast & egss & fruits Cons In-Room lighting - why oh why would you not have enough lights in the room. Its such a pretty room only to be let down by barebones lighting. Made any kind of packing or other activity difficult in the after hours. Also gives a bit of a gloomy feel to the place. Flies - Well.. not that the resort can do much about it, but flies can wreak havoc on rare days, one of which happened to be when we stayed there. Not a resort problem, just putting it out there Worth the money… heck this was most value for money leg in the entire trip of 10+ days
