Bahrain Air was a privately owned national carrier based at the Bahrain International Airport. Set up in July 2007, Bahrain Air initially operated alongside the state-owned pan-Gulf airlines Gulf Air to meet the increasing need of low cost carrier among Indian population living in Gulf region. However, in February 2008, Bahrain Air commenced its operations as a separate entity offering about 110 flights across 17 destinations worldwide. Major regions served by Bahrain Air flights included Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. The second flag bearer of Bahrain, after Gulf Air, Bahrain Air was replete with a modern fleet of aircrafts comprising Airbus 319s and Airbus A320-200s.
